Silver Bells Arts & Crafts Faire 12/13/09

I’m gearing up for my last two shows of the year. I can’t believe how quickly 2009 has flown by! I have a show this Sunday in Japantown San Francisco called the Silver Bells Arts & Crafts Faire, which is put on by Kimochi, Inc. It is a FREE holiday vendor event with 83 designers and crafters. I always find some great holiday gifts and a few gifts for myself. =) Here is all the info for the show:

Sunday, December 13th, 10am – 4pm
Kimochi’s Silver Bells Arts & Crafts Faire
The Event Center at St. Mary’s Cathedral
1111 Gough Street
San Francisco, CA 94109

I am very excited that my friends from A Hui Hou Hawaiian jewelry and Fat Rabbit Farm will also be selling at this event.  Be sure to stop by my booth if you come to the show. I will be located in the St. Francis Hall at Booth A10. And I’m so happy that I will be right next to Fat Rabbit Farm’s booth…ooh that could be dangerous for my wallet. =P

Hope to see you Sunday! If you can’t make it, be sure to check out the Melinda Mae website…don’t forget to use the Holiday Discount Code to receive 10% off your entire order (Code: HOLIDAY09)!  Happy Shopping!

Sewing Machine #2

So since my first sewing machine decided to rain metal pieces everywhere, I went on a quick hunt to find a replacement sewing machine so I could make all my bags for my recent Japantown Craft Fair. I ended up picking up a Singer sewing machine. My last machine was a Brother sewing machine that I bought in 2002.  So 7 years is pretty good but let’s see how long this one lasts.

I started using this one on Tuesday night and I have already broken 4 needles. =( This machine seems a lot more fragile than my old machine and sews a bit slower. There is also a tricky automatic needle threader, which I haven’t decided if I like yet. But it did do well in letting me make my last few bags for my Japantown show on Saturday.

JCYC Craft Fair and Island Jam

It was a beautiful sunny day in SF on Saturday! The Craft Fair took place in Japantown San Francisco and there were vendors selling t-shirts, jewelry, artwork, dog apparel, hand towels and other handbags. It was great to be next to my friends at A Hui Hou Hawaiian jewelry and I made an awesome trade with the Fat Rabbit Farm folks. Look at the three shirts I got! I love them!

I met some really nice people at the fair and had some friends stop by my booth! Thanks to Danny, Uvan, Mona, Annalyn, Jared, Holly, Jenn and my family for stopping by! And special thanks to Steven for keeping me company ALL day! So after the show, we headed to Tanpopo for ramen since we hadn’t eaten all day long except for a piece of sushi that I accidentally dropped on the floor after one bite. =(

Then we headed to the Japantown Kintetsu Mall and wandered around for a bit. We bought some Taiyaki from the food court and browsed into the new Sanrio store and Kinokinuya.

Speaking of Taiyaki, there is a place in San Mateo called Sweet Breams that has really good Taiyaki and the packaging is really cute.  I haven’t been there since December but have been trying to make a trip out again soon. I really love their store because there is artwork displayed from local artists.

The taiyaki at Sweet Breams are smaller than the ones in Japantown but these are deliciously bite-sized and you have your choice of chocolate, nutella (my fave!), red bean and more! The store is located in downtown San Mateo so stop by if you get a chance.

So back to the Japantown fair, it was a good day to showcase my bags, meet some nice people, hang out with friends and eat some yummy food. =) Here are a couple pics of Melinda Mae handbags showcased at the fair:

JCYC Craft Fair & Island Jam

I have been busy these days getting ready for the Japantown Craft Fair & Island Jam, which will take place at the Japantown Cultural & Community Center in SF on June 20th.

upcoming_craftfair2009My room is a mess and there is fabric everywhere! I really want to make a good selection of bags to bring to the show and to show off my new wristlets. I’ve also purchased a ton of new fabric so I hope everyone will love the designs as much as I do. Here are swatches of some of my new fabrics:

I am excited to see what people have to say about the wristlets. I have been testing one out lately and found that it is perfect for my snacks, checkbook, make-up, feminine products (sorry guys) or pens. It is also fits a digital camera, cell phone and ID very nicely. =) I can make the wristlets in any fabrics that I have. So if you see a fabric you like on the Melinda Mae website, you can order it in any fabric you fancy.

Let me know if you have any comments or suggestions.  I would greatly appreciate the feedback.  Any other designs that you want to see?

Hope some of you can make it to the Craft Fair on June 20th. There will also be hula performances across the street. My friends from A Hui Hou Hawaiian Jewelry and Fat Rabbit Farm will be there too! Be sure to stop by their booths for beautiful Hawaiian jewelry and really cute chubby rabbit tshirts! =) And if you come for the fair, you have to go by and grab a crepe at Sophie’s crepes or ramen at Tanpopo…mmmm….now I’m hungry again!  =P
