An old friend

Well….hello to my old friend…

Since I moved to New York, I haven’t had a chance to unpack my sewing machine, but I finally unpacked it and began sewing…so now it’s time to organize fabric and re-order all of the necessary accessories…let the inspiration begin! =)

MM Jam of the Week: “Just Like Heaven”

This week’s MM Jam of the Week is “Just Like Heaven” redone by Katie Melua. I really like Katie’s version of this classic song by The Cure. But for this week, you get both versions! First, The Cure’s awesome 80s version and then Katie Melua’s mellow 2005 version. Okay…both videos are not spectacular but The Cure’s video is much more strange.

MM Jam of the Week: Jason Mraz “If It Kills Me”

I can not stop listening to this song…I have always liked Jason Mraz since I saw him live in San Diego in 1999, but his recorded tracks do not compare to his live sessions. So the version of “If It Kills Me” that has been stuck in my head is from his live Casa Nova session. ┬áHere is a live version of the song from one of his concerts…awesome…

I was reminded of the song “If It Kills Me” recently since it was used for one of my favorite routines on So You Think You Can Dance. I am a huge fan of SYTYCD and this piece was beautifully choreographed by Travis Wall and danced by Jeanine and Jason a few seasons ago. SYTYCD just started up again so I am anxious to see some more great choreo from Travis Wall. Here is the piece…watch a few times to truly appreciate the intricacies of his choreography.

MM Jam of the Week: Emeli Sande

Emeli Sande…wow….there are no words for how ridiculously soulful and powerful her voice is. I was so lucky to catch her performance at the Music Hall in Williamsburg and I was so touched by her voice. She just released her new album, “Our Version of Events”, today so please check it out. You can actually purchase the digital copy of the full album on Amazon for $5. Here is just one song that I loved watching her perform live, “Suitcase”.
