Thank you to all of you that have been following my Melinda Mae Jams of the Week. I truly love music and feel super inspired by rhythms and lyrics so it has been really exciting to share all of my favorite music with all of you. All of the songs that I have posted have some significance to my life, whether it is tied to a person, an event or a memory, there is always a very strong meaning to me. This week’s MM Jam of the Week is a special one. This song always makes me so happy and has been sampled in Common’s song “The Light”, which also makes me super happy when I hear it playing. I absolutely love when cover bands perform this song too. Please enjoy and be inspired. =)

It’s Monday again so here comes the MM Jam of the Week: Brownstone’s “If You Love Me.” This song brings us back to 1994, which is full of baggy pants, bare midriffs and lots of body-rolling. This song holds a special place in my heart because it reminds me of my old dance team, Ascension. We used to do warm-ups to this song even though it was not 1994. ha So this is dedicated to you Ascension! =)

Happy 2012! I can’t believe how quickly 2011 ended and we are now in 2012! I hope that you all enjoyed the holidays and are refreshed for this new year. Every year, I reflect back on the past year and think about how grateful I am to have such wonderful memories and the opportunity to create more. I am also so thankful for my amazingly loving family and friends. I wish you all a fabulous 2012 year and hope that it is filled with joy, positivity, love and gratitude.

And to celebrate 2012, here is the MM Jam of the Week…Stevie Wonder’s “Overjoyed”.

Sorry for posting so late but it’s been a very very busy holiday season! I wanted to post up a few of my favorite holiday jams for all of you. I usually get annoyed when holiday music is blasting through the shopping malls, but these songs, I always love to hear. Hope it gets you all pumped up for Christmas! Wishing you all a very wonderful and safe holiday! =)

This jam is my fave that always gets covered, but I love Mariah Carey’s version the best.

All you have to know is that it’s Wham! How can you go wrong? Plus awesome 80s fashion and mullets.

MM Jam of the Week: Jose James

Jose James is my new favorite artist. I can not stop listening to his music. I just recently saw him live and it was by far, one of the best live sessions that I have ever been to. His music is a mix of jazz and soul mixed a very smooth flavor. This week’s MM Jam of the Week is one of his new songs, “Trouble”. Please enjoy and I have added some shots of his live performance that I took recently. =)

Is anyone completely done with all of their holiday shopping? Have you even made a dent? Well here’s another opportunity to pick up one of a kind gifts.

This Saturday (12/10), Melinda Mae Handbags will be at the Holiday Bazaar in Burlingame along with several other independent designers! The event is hosted by Mayari Jewelry and will be held at 755 California Drive in Burlingame from 3-7pm. The event is FREE and there will be refreshments and live music while you shop! Hope you can make it out! This will be the last show for Melinda Mae Handbags in 2011…happy holidays and happy shopping!

MM Jam of the Week: Ascension

Anyone who really knows my musical taste knows that I absolutely love Maxwell. I love his stuff from the 90s and I love his current songs now. I was fortunate enough to see him live a couple years ago and I would so love to see him again live. His voice and lyrics are truly awesome. All of his songs have very genuine and sincere lyrics…especially his newest album, BlackSummers’night. Here’s one of my faves from back in the day, before the haircut…Enjoy!

Bazaar Bizarre this weekend!

I can’t believe December came so quickly this year! This weekend is the Bazaar Bizarre in SF and it is the first year that Melinda Mae Handbags will be a vendor! I am extremely excited, but also very nervous! The show is both Saturday, December 3rd and Sunday, December 4th. The event is FREE and will feature over 220 vendors! And some of my great friends from ViviKids, Fat Rabbit Farm, Monkey+Seal, fellow SF Etsy Team Members and many more will be there too! I really hope you can make it out to support DIY and to get one of kind holiday gifts! I’ll be at Booth #123…see you Saturday or Sunday! =)

MM Jam of the Week: Allen Stone “Contact High”

Thank you so much to Mr. James O’Shea for suggesting Allen Stone to me. He sounds amazing and was recently featured on Conan. What I love most about him is that he looks so different from how he actually sounds. I hope you enjoy his soulful voice. This song goes out to all of you that are glued to your phones every second of the day. ha
